2017 Tennessee Elder Justice Conference
Paul Greenwood serves as the Deputy District Attorney for the San Diego District Attorney’s Office. He has been in practice for more than 35 years. He spent 10 years in England as a barrister and solicitor before relocating to San Diego in 1991. He joined the San Diego DA's office in 1993, and started the Elder Abuse Prosecution Unit in January 1996. Under his leadership, the unit has grown to a team of twelve. He has also been involved in the prosecution of over 500 felony elder abuse cases. Mr. Greenwood is currently Co-Chair of California’s District Attorneys Elder Abuse Committee, and is an elected board member of the National Committee for the Prevention of Elder Abuse. He assisted with drafting Elder Abuse legislation for California Evidence Code sections 1380 and 1109. |
Robert B. Blancato

Bob Blancato is the National Coordinator of The Elder Justice Coalition, a bipartisan, 3000-member coalition, and the Executive Director of the National Association of Nutrition and Aging Services Programs. Bob has more than 20 years of service in the US Congressional and Executive branches, including senior staff of the U.S. House Select Committee on Aging and an appointment by President Clinton to be Executive Director of the 1995 White House Conference on Aging. More recently, Bob serves as the Chair of the Board of the American Society on Aging and on the National Board of AARP. He also serves on the Board of the National Council on Aging and the Advisory Panel on Outreach and Education of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Mr. Blancato's presentation will provide an up to date status on key elder justice issues in Washington. This will include funding for key programs, status of the Elder Justice Act, review of new legislation, federal agency work on elder justice and status of new elder abuse crime victims funds provided by the Victims of Crime Act. It will also touch on key players in elder justice from newly confirmed Assistant Secretary for Aging, Lance Robertson to Chairman Lamar Alexander of the Senate Health Education Labor and Pensions committee which has jurisdiction over the Older Americans Act and ACL, the new federal home for adult protective services. Finally a brief review of the work of the bi partisan Elder Justice Coalition.
